Barn swallows are pest birds that spread diseases. You can find these birds building mud nests inside and outside of your barn. Birds migrate to warm areas, especially in the winter season and your barn is the perfect place for them to build their nest.
Here are a variety of methods to get the birds out of your barn and to help keep them out.
Barn Barriers
If you’re looking for more of a less involved solution, try out these methods:
Bird lasers (blazers) - Point in the directions that birds would land to get them to leave, but an expensive tactic
Netting - Draping over areas where barn swallows would build their nest at, but this is very expensive
Sound devices - Noise machines and sound alarms, but these might annoy your neighbors
Setting up bird decoys like owls, wolves and cats. If you don’t move these around though, the birds will notice and the decoy won’t be effective.
Other Methods to Stop Barn Swallows
If you’re a cat person, having barn cats will help keep the birds away. We recommend purchasing twine blocks where you can place in strips to prevent the birds from landing. Other options include bird slopes where the barn swallows cannot land because they would slip off. Keep in mind though, these are only short-term solutions that will only stop the birds from coming into your barn momentarily.
Keep the Birds Out of Your Barn with Avian Enterprises
Avian Fog Force TR is the ideal solution to stop the birds from getting into your barn. It’s as easy as installing the aerosol can and programming it to where and when you want it to spray. Watch your barn become bird-free in a short amount of time. This is more of a long-term solution because the treated areas last longer than traditional methods.
